When a post-middle aged couple from New Zealand decide to build a house on an Estonian island in the Baltic, friends shook their heads and asked why? Indeed we sometimes wondered why ourselves as we struggled with the unfamiliar environment, language and culture. This story is about building that house, in that land but it is also about the people encountered and the help they gave us.

Francie Durham is a New Zealander who lives with her husband for five months of the year in Estonia. The remaining months of the year they live on the Kapiti Coast of New Zealand.
