Description

Mobility is influenced significantly by gender, by social, economic and cultural factors. The fact that mobility is not gender neutral has been supported by a large body of systematic empirical evidence gathered worldwide in the context of industrialized as well as emerging and lower-income economies. One’s gender identity as a man, woman, or non-binary person alongside other intersecting identities of age, education, work status, sexuality, ability and caregiving status as well as geographic location (in a rural, urban, suburban, or peri-urban community in an industrialized, low-income economy country, for example) may significantly affect one’s ability to access and afford reliable and safe.

This report aims to analyze the travel practices, spatial accessibility to economic opportunities, barriers, and needs of women in the MENA region. The book also provides evidence on women’s mobility barriers and their impact on women's employment outcomes.
